Letterboxing

I finally got our letterbox posted for all to take a short walk and see if they can find our lucky clover! http://www.atlasquest.com/showinfo.html?gBoxId=129569
If someone goes over, I need to get a little instruction page to put in the box and share what 4-H is and where and when we meet. I am still looking for a green stamp pad to put in the box. a blue clover is ok, but a green clover is just better.

It's been so much fun! We have scheduled another hike around Lake Galena and heard there are Hensen muppets to be found! We plan on taking a hike on Nov 28th at 1pm. Meeting place to be determined.

anyone interested in joining - just let us know. Mrs. N and I would like to continue the hiking andletterboxing through out the year and always welcome new members! Still have plenty of stamp supplies to make more for new faces.

check out the link on the right to find out more about letterboxing!

Wreath Making

It's that time of the year again and I need my grape vines trimmed! Wreath making starts this Sat and we will run 3 classes on Saturday mornings. Dates have changed a bit according to my schedule. the classes will be held Oct 10th, the 31st (come in costume if you wish) and Nov 7th. I apologize for the skip in weeks, but other commitments have come up. the classes will start at 10 and last until 11:30. there is no cost for the event, but you may bring your own supplies if you have something specific in mind. Donations for supplies are ALWAYS welcomed! We don't have a vast supply of dried/silk flowers or greenery if anyone has old flower arrangements they would like to get rid of.

Class 1 - Oct 10th - trimming the vines and shaping them. The kids will need to bring hand held clippers for small branches. We have a few extras to share if you don't have any. You may also bring a bucket approx 12" or larger (depending on the size wreath you want) to hold the vines. We will have enough buckets to share. We'll be discussing themes and the kids can have a look at what supplies we have available.

class 2 - Oct 31st - Forming the wreath and bow making - We will be forming the wreath and securing them. then working on our bows - any mothers who can make bows are welcome to join! We have lots of ribbon, thanks to a generous mother who found some on sale last year. The kids can pick out their ribbon and supplies and decide on their theme.

Class 3 - Nov 7th - Decorating the wreaths. Bring any supplies you picked up needed for your wreath if you are bringing any. Hot glue guns are helpful, I have a few, but we always have a line with them.

the meetings are held at the Polichetti's - Dress warmly - we are starting earlier this year and hope the weather is nice, but we work on the wreaths in our garage and yes, the heater is fixed! but it can still get chilly.

This is our 3rd year making the wreaths and each year I am more impressed with how well the kids do. As Mr. P. would say, they look like they would be sold in stores! We have lots of fun and have had boys and girls alike particpate. Most wreaths are made as Christmas presents and I invite anyone to come and join. (moms too!) We always have enough to do extras!

If you haven't signed up yet, please send an email and let me know you would like to participate. If you need to miss a meeting we can cover you and help you get to the finished project.

Perkasie Fall Festival

Hey there 4Hers,

Sunday is our fundraiser. We will be hosting a food booth in Menlo Park for Perkasie Fall Fest.
We need everyone to volunteer some time to help. We need you for an hour, or as much time as you would like, from 12 noon to 5 p.m.

Please let me know when you are available.
Everyone should were green and white along with your jeans. And 4H gear if you have it - t-shirts, bandanas etc... Girls, you need to pull your hair back in a bun or ponytail. Boys, you might want to wear a baseball cap, just to keep your hair away from the food.

We also need each 4Her to donate a case of water. Landis' has 24 packs on sale for $3.00, and Giant has 36 packs for $4.00. We will also be selling soft pretzels, nachos and cheese, and if its cold, hot chocolate. We will need coolers and a couple of crockpots. If you have one let me know.

Drama practice will still be a go for Sunday, but its moving to 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. If your child is not in Drama, it would be helpful if they/you worked at the end of the day to help close out.

I think that's it. Pray for sunny skies. Thanks everyone.
